Mossley is a civil parish and town in Tameside in Greater Manchester, England. It's located in the upper Tame Valley at the foothills of the Pennines and 3 miles (4.8km) southeast of Oldham, and 8.9 miles (14.3km) east of Manchester. Mossley is where the historic counties of Cheshire, Lancashire, and West Riding of Yorkshire intersect. The boundaries of local government wards as well as church parishes correspond. According to the 2011 Census, Mossley had 10,921 inhabitants. Since 1999, it is the only parish in Tameside that has had a council.
